Parker’s digital marketing journey started at Channel 4000, the website for WCCO-TV, where he played a pivotal role in generating website traffic. His innovative approach led the web newsroom to win two National Press Club Online Journalism awards in 1998 and 1999. His knack for experimentation and adaptation allowed him to identify what resonated with audiences, laying the groundwork for his successful career.

He was an early adopter of web analytics, using server logs to understand viewer behavior and optimize content delivery. This data-driven mindset has been a hallmark of his career, even leading him to adjust his daily schedule to better serve the site’s audience when he learned that viewers started arriving at 6:30 am. So he started to come to work at 5 to get the website prepared for them.

Building on Success

In 2004, Parker transitioned to boosting company revenue by creating a lead-generation ad network across a 70+ site network of local TV station websites. This network featured various online advertising formats, including text ads, affiliate programs, and banner ads, eventually generating $250,000 per month. This experience allowed Parker to gain a deep understanding of online advertising and marketing from the ground up.

In 2008, Parker took on a strategic role, crafting requirements for an ad server to manage the network and negotiating deals with vendors. He also spearheaded mobile strategies for his company and its TV station clients, showcasing his ability to anticipate and adapt to industry trends.
